Linak History – A linear narrative
The story of the LINAK® Group is a chronological tale of a family business.
It starts with the electric linear actuator, which was the idea that laid the foundation for the successful business in Als.
The company story, authentically told by the company’s owner and CEO, Bent Jensen, is filled with personal anecdotes and stories about the creation of the company.
The story of LINAK is a mix of animation and live action, which, together with the animated character of Bent Jensen, ties the real and virtual worlds together.
We are honored to collaborate locally with a large international group that is built on creativity.
We are pleased that LINAK has also welcomed our creative input during the process.
The movie was well received among the employees at LINAK. Across external (social) media, the movie has also received a lot of positive feedback.
“LINAK appreciates the fact that we have highly competent video suppliers in the local area who can help us with large video productions, such as the LINAK History video.
We appreciate Zoom Film’s creative input, professionalism and close collaboration. “

History brought to life through character animation
With our faces we express our emotions.
When developing an idea and concept for an animated character, personality and movement are just as important as the design itself.
The concept and the idea of an animated character of Bent Jensen came on the drawing board early in the process.
Bent Jensen, with his character and voice, is the narrator of the story, where the animation character supports the narration with his body language.
The fine movements in the character’s face are therefore crucial for the viewer to decode the non-verbal language.
ROKOKO Motion suit
To tell the story of LINAK, we used an animation suit.
The suit’s many censors, located both on the body and on the face, capture and analyze all movements.
With a tool like the animation suit, both the expression and the quality of the movements are enhanced.
All movements made with the suit are transferred directly to the animation figure.
Here you can see how our animator uses his movements to create a realistic character.
Personality must come through in the character
A raised eyebrow is not just a raised eyebrow.
The basic movements are built into the character with the suit, but it’s only in post-processing that fine-tuning takes place and the personality is expressed.
Because we shot several hours of footage of Bent Jensen, we also had enough references and material to study specific facial features and movements.
Real life in combination with animation
Animation is ideal when we need to tell a story where time plays an important role, simplify text-heavy content and recreate spaces that may no longer exist.
Fortunately, LINAK was on board with the idea of incorporating the best of the animation world.
We decided to replace the static images of old workshops from the archive that were to be included in the movie with 3D animation.
The result shows a good interplay between animation and reality, with the photorealistic style helping to equalize differences between animation and footage.
By recreating all the locations from the past in a photorealistic 3D environment, it also gave us greater control over every detail.
For example, we could easily create interaction between the character and the objects in the room.
With an animated environment, we can model and control movement, interaction with objects, camera angles and lighting, which has many advantages.
